The twelve zodiac signs are a fundamental aspect of astrology, each representing distinct personality traits, strengths, and challenges. These signs are divided into four elements, three qualities, and different ruling planets.

Each sign contributes uniquely to the astrological tapestry with each one connected to a different constellation. Therefore, all twelve of them are represented by a symbol in the shape of that constellation, which is also connected to symbolism itself. The zodiac signs offer insight into human behavior and relationships, making them essential for learning about when studying astrology.

To begin, the twelve zodiac signs are often remembered in a particular order with Aries being the first and Pisces being the last. Each one has a symbol used for both astronomical and astrological associations, as seen by the first list, or the list to the left. Likewise, all the signs have a symbolic representation, which resembles their constellation, as seen by the second list or the list to the right.

Generally, to remember the symbolic interpretation of each zodiac sign, we can categorize them into different groups. Hence, these groups are “Horns,” “Half Breeds,” “Seeing Double,” “Humans,” and “The Threatening.” Moreover, while most of the symbols for the signs are animals, there are a few that are human and only one that is an inanimate object.

Now, if we divide these twelve zodiac signs into three groups, (with Aries, Taurus, Gemini, and Cancer being the first group), we’ll get three groups that each contain the four elements. For example, Aries is a fire sign, Taurus is an earth sign, Gemini is an Air sign, and Cancer is a water sign. Therefore, these four signs complete the four elements. Certainly, the same applies to the second group as well as the third group.

Each element in astrology represents different characteristics. Fire is passionate and determined, earth is grounded and practical, air is curious and clever, and water is intuitive and compassionate. Each sign that shares an element will have these traits in common within their personalities.

In astrology, the three qualities are Cardinal, Fixed, and Mutable. What qualities signify is the level of adaptability of the zodiac signs. Cardinal signs are leaders, fixed signs are inflexible, and mutable signs are changeable.

Quite the opposite of the elements and their groups, if we divide the signs up into four groups of three this time, each group will have each of the three qualities. For example, the first group would be Aries, Taurus, and Gemini. The next group would be Cancer, Leo, and Virgo, and so on.

Lastly, each of the zodiac signs are ruled by a planet. What you’ll notice is that a few of the signs are ruled by the same planet, while the rest aren’t.
