Jupiter is the fifth planet from our sun and is more than double the size of every planet in our solar system combined! Astoundingly, this planet has 79 moons! Like Saturn, Jupiter is a planet made of gases. Unlike Saturn, however, Jupiter is known as the “gas giant” because of its enormity.

Another special feature on cold Jupiter is that it contains something called the “great red spot,” which is a massive storm. It’s double the size of earth and has been happening for hundreds of years. Furthermore, there’s no end in sight to the storm!

Symbolism of Jupiter

While this planet was named Jupiter in Roman mythology, it was previously called “Zeus” by the Greeks. In Greek mythology, Zeus was known as the King of the Gods. He also ruled over Mount Olympus.

Zeus is known as the God of Sky and Thunder. He’s previously been painted several times surrounded by storms. His weapon of choice is a great lightning bolt which he’s often seen holding within his hand.
